Steven R. McClarren, PE

Executive Vice President, Principal

"Getting to know our clients on a personal level, outside of work issues, is one of my favorite things about this business. It opens up the collaborative process so I can truly do my best to make their job easier."

Steve brings a quiet sense of confidence to the JGA office and the clients with whom he works, instilling an inherent sense of trust in the relationships he builds. Graduating summa cum laude and first in his class at the University of Cincinnati, he has over 30 years engineering experience.

He enjoys collaborating with his project partners and always pursues pragmatic design solutions that promote the client’s aesthetic vision and building function.

Steve has a strong background in designing structural systems for industrial/processing, mixed-use, multifamily, office and retail buildings.

Along with trustworthiness, compassion is a strong character trait of Steve’s. Since 2015, he has been volunteering with Heart-to-Heart, a food pantry founded by First Community Church, that provides more than 117,000 meals to families in Central Ohio. Every Friday morning early Steve picks up food from area groceries and drops it off at the pantry.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Time travel to meet my ancestors and great-great grandchildren.

If you see me outside of work, I’m probably:
Playing golf, tennis or on a date night with my wife, Patty.

Name one cool thing that you’ve done:
Golfed the motherland, St. Andrews Links in Scotland, with my son.

At home you’ll find me …
Playing fetch with our dog Buddy, talking to my wife, or checking shop drawings.
