David Schoeff, PE

Project Manager

"I was born with the engineering “knack” – being able to figure out how things work and go together – particularly for buildings. I enjoy my job the most when I’m able to make the contractors’ and architects’ jobs easier by applying that knack to my projects."

David has over 20 years engineering experience and has been with JGA since early 2018. He is a detail-oriented engineer who enjoys the creative process involved in solving structural challenges. He is recognized by his clients for exceptional responsiveness. When he’s not in the office, his calls are forwarded directly to his cell phone so that he can communicate more readily.

He has experience with all types of building materials, including post-tensioned concrete and multi-story wood construction. Mixed-use, multi-family, senior living and office/commercial projects are featured in his portfolio of work.

David gives back to his profession by teaching a graduate-level structures course every spring at the Knowlton School of Architecture at Ohio State. He believes the architectural students enjoy the class more than they expect to and a bonus for him is the development of his public speaking skills.

Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering

If you see me outside of work, I’m probably:
Doing something with one of my three kids, often music or sports-related.

What is your favorite thing about working at Jezerinac Geers??
Everyone wants to do a great job and keep clients happy.

Name one cool thing that you’ve done:
Hiked down and camped overnight on Horseshoe Mesa in the Grand Canyon with my brother.

What do you enjoy most about structural engineering?
Structural engineers understand how the building behaves and how it needs to be put together to perform safely, which is a unique skill set.
