Jezerinac Geers is proud to be the structural engineer, with architectural partner M+A Architects, for the newest and largest fire station for the City of Columbus Division of Fire, which held its dedication on June 23. The project replaces Station No. 2&3 (“Busiest Station in the Nation”) that was built in 1962 and lacks the space, overhead door height clearance, ventilation, accessibility and technology that today’s fire stations and apparatus demand. The new facility is being designed sustainably with a goal of LEED® Silver Certification.
Matt Inkrott, Jezerinac Geers project engineer, gave this year’s grade 3 through 8 Camp Architecture students a hands-on lesson in architectural engineering. Camp Architecture is a summer camp for central Ohio youth ages 8-18, which introduces them to the world of architecture and design through hands-on activities, field trips, walking tours, presentations by professionals and imaginative games, and last year attracted over 80 students. Inkrott’s lesson gave the students an overview of structural engineering design and what structural engineers do. Tower Two-Sixty at The Gardens in Pittsburgh had its beam topping and signing celebration this spring. Jezerinac Geers is proud to be the structural engineer on this project that offers the first opportunity in almost 30 years for distinguished Pittsburgh businesses to take up residence in a brand new trophy class space totaling 128,000 sq. ft. Along with office space, Tower Two-Sixty features restaurants and a hotel. Founded by Jezerinac Geers in collaboration with his family, the first John A. Schaad Achievement Scholarship was awarded this spring to Alyssa Hosom, a recent graduate of Morgan High School who is attending Ohio University this fall. After being led by its founders for over three decades, structural engineering firm Jezerinac Geers & Associates, Inc. has moved to the second generation of leadership as Daniel Geers was recently elected as the firm’s president. Dan became president on January 1, 2015, taking the reins from his father, Richard Geers. The session drew over 85 architects, technical professionals, business developers and marketers, and focused on strategies to win work and grow business.
